Blaufränkisch makes wonderful, food-friendly medium to light bodied red wine with bright acidity. Our Reserve Blaufränkisch showcases the grape’s potential through the use of a winemaking technique called saingée wherein light bodied juice is removed immediately after crushing the grapes to concentrate flavor and increase body. Aged in French Oak for 6 months, the wine has developed black currant and earthy tones, complemented by silky tannins and black pepper notes on the finish.
Immediatley after crushing and destemming, 150 L of juice per ton was removed to increase the skin to juice ratio during fermentation. Twenty one days maceration on the skins. Unfined and unfiltered.
