Our 1904 Red Blend celebrates the year that our historic tasting room and inn was built. It also tells the story of each vintage. In 2024 there were very few red grapes harvested due to a January cold snap that damaged the vines. Tannat and Blaufränkisch were two excellent red varieties that pulled through. The tannic structure of the Tannat is balanced by the fruit and acidity of the Blaufränkisch in this blend, which was aged for 9 months in a mixture of new and used French Oak.
This wine is is made in the style of a Right Bank Bordeaux. Elegant and complex, the refined red and black plum, cedar, and silky tannins create a structured yet delicate red wine. It was aged one year in 25% new and 75% used French Oak to add tannic structure and subtle oak flavor. It is drinking very well right now, and will continue to improve over the next 2-4 years. It pairs well with dishes containing tomatoes, mushrooms, or lean red meat.
Blaufränkisch makes wonderful, food-friendly medium to light bodied wines with bright acidity. To add structure and longevity, our 2024 Blaufränkisch was aged for 6 months in 100% New French Oak barrels. This wine is perfect at cellar temperature (56 degrees) and shows flavors of black and red raspberries, cocoa, vanilla, and spice. It pairs well with spicy foods and unusual flavors due to its juicy acidity and soft tannic structure.
Blaufränkisch makes wonderful, food-friendly medium to light bodied red wine with bright acidity. Our Reserve Blaufränkisch showcases the grape’s potential through the use of a winemaking technique called saingée wherein light bodied juice is removed immediately after crushing the grapes to concentrate flavor and increase body. Aged in French Oak for 6 months, the wine has developed black currant and earthy tones, complemented by silky tannins and black pepper notes on the finish.
This little-known grape is indigenous to the Pyrenees Mountains in Southwest France. It is a very tannic grape variety. This wine is wonderfully structured with smooth ripe tannins. Aged in a mixture 50% new and 50% used French oak, it has flavors of blackberries, black plums, graphite, tobacco, and a touch a dry herbs. Pair it with steak, pot roast, or mushrooms.
