Our Best Selling Red Wine!
Lake Michigan Shore
Our 1904 Red Blend celebrates the year that our historic tasting room and inn was built. It also tells the story of each vintage. In 2024 there were very few red grapes harvested due to a January cold snap that damaged the vines. Tannat and Blaufränkisch were two excellent red varieties that pulled through. The tannic structure of the Tannat is balanced by the fruit and acidity of the Blaufränkisch in this blend, which was aged for 9 months in a mixture of new and used French Oak.
Fermented in 1 ton fermenters at 80+ degrees for optimal extraction. Both varieties were fermented separately with different yeast strains to increase complexity. Macerated on the skins for 21-28 days. Aged in a mixture of new & used French Oak for 9 months. Unfined. Unfiltered. Blended from select barrels for complexity and balance.
